I have been playing Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On by GameFreak, on the Switch.

It's pretty much exactly the same as the 3DS version, which means it's still great.

Finishing up with Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. Game annoys me and I wish it to end sooner. It's kinda good in most respects, but soulless.

Highguard. There is a great game there but it takes a few hours to understand it all.

But I've read that you aren't allowed to enjoy it.

Please reconsider!

The thing with these games is, no matter how bad the reception is the beginning, they can always bounce back. Remember when Fortnite wasn't popular?

I mean the game is free, so there is no reason to not try it. I might give it a shot this weekend.

Finished the main story in Star Wars Outlaws (on Switch 2; didn't even really miss M+KB, the gyro aiming worked very well). Didn't do the two main DLC packages yet. Overall good time, better than I expected. As far as woke stuff, seemingly 75% of NPCs being female (including aliens) was kind of jarring, but otherwise not distracting. Solid 7.5/10 game imo.

They improved that game A LOT after the disastrous launch. Stealth is actually fun now.

Still Cyberpunk. Arasaka must pay, or something like that.

It’s Friday which means I’ll be tearing up some ass on CoD while yelling at my absolutely useless fucking teammates, I can’t wait.

I’ve been rockin on The Last Spell on my SteamDeck mostly and Expedition 33 on my PS5 as my back burner game.

I need to get more time into Dragon’s Dogma 2…. Every time I boot up that game I have a fun time even if I accomplish nothing important. It’s such a fun world to walk around in.

Go in with an open mind. It is not your normal br or tdm shooter. It is objective play and reminds me of a mix of tribes and valorant. Game is meant to be more tactical and it takes a handful of games to really understand the flow. Even then you will have barely scratched the surface.

I have tried the game 3 times now and I keep giving up because of how horrible the controls are on the speeders. At least, on Series X.

So I've got a problem. I just started Elden Ring (again) from the beginning last weekend with the intention of actually playing it through. Really trying to get into it this time. But then FFVII Remake ninja drops out of nowhere so now I'm considering dumping Elden Ring (again). What do I do here?

Hell yeah, choom. I went back to Cyberpunk the other day, finally got the expansion and I'm progressing through that. Preem shit. Additional flavor text from that world.

I was playing full on blades at one point, cutting motherfuckers down with a katana, but I got tired of it and switched to pistols for the expansion. Running into the shit and popping off headshots left and right is good fun.

Kind of rebuilding my old Wii library at the moment, after I had a great time playing the first Mario Galaxy with my 6 year old.
Today we started Mario Galaxy 2.

But then, I am also playing Clair Obscure of course. But I need to find more time for this.
Currently in the Lampmaster fight.

Arknights Endfield. Game is like crack.

I think what's grabbed me is that it's a game first, gacha second which means I don't need to sweat over whether I can pull good characters and instead focus on the actually deep mechanics! There's so much to engage with here from factory building in the same vein as Satisfactory or Factorio, there's a whole Death Stranding delivery system for goods you've produced, including the ability to build ziplines to get around quicker. There's farming for growing plants to make food and medicine with. There's a tower defence system for protecting outposts which leads to greater gains for your money and XP produced by that outpost. There's a whole story with RPG levelling, team composition, weapon and character levelling. There's world exploration in the vein of Breath of the Wild with discoverables to help level up your "region" for more currencies, upgrade materials, rewards. There's basically a stock market mechanic with buying and trading certain goods and then being able to sell them for money on your friends spaceship (oh, there's a spaceship with its own manufacturing hub and growth chambers for rare levelling materials). That doesn't even mention the additional combat challenges that give great rewards for upgrade materials.

Combat is decent, but nothing particularly spectacular, there are nice effects that pop off and you can craft a team to stack debuffs or focus on regaining SP for more class attacks whilst each operator has a certain "rhythm" to their combat loops, for example, Laevatain, my most recent 6* pull encourages being aggressive with her super to proc fire damage stacks and combo with other operators whereas others will be better used as a finishing strike or building up frost, stun or corrosive stacks. It's a very basic 1 button is your default attack, one is dodge and you have a single hotkey button for that operators' special and super attacks. Not much depth, but fun to build out teams with great synergy.

The best part? It's free. You are not required to engage with any monetary systems whatsoever. I don't really engage with the "gacha" genre and I've bounced off of things such as Genshin Impact or Zenless Zone Zero but this one has really grabbed me with its engaging systems, generous currency rewards and fun core loop. I am sure my feelings will sour once I am fully on the hamster wheel and being pushed toward purchases, but the 30 or so hours I have sunk into this over the past 10 days has been nothing short of a breath of fresh air.

It runs very well and has cross progression on mobile devices. It's all wrapped up in a nice anime aesthetic (which may be a stumbling block for some), the VA is decent with each character having a distinct personality and the waifus have jiggle physics. What's not to like?

There's a couple of things, actually. The game is essentially a living, breathing tutorial. The opening is amongst some of the worst onboarding I have ever experienced in a video game, and by opening, the game is actively trying to filter you for about 10 hours. The story suffers for this and doesn't really stretch its legs until it's almost drawing to a close and though I haven't "finished" it, the main draw of the story is somewhat closed. The story itself is not anything special, though the characterisation is pleasant with good VA from many characters who are each distinct enough to make sure there will be many different favourites amongst players here.

To expand on the story stuff, I have no history with Arknights as a series and so many of the elements of the story are something of a mystery to me. It isn't impenetrable, but I think it's the sort of thing that fans will know what's happening but for someone like me I am just sort of nodding along.

I suppose my final irk is with progression materials, though I understand that's likely an issue with this genre more than something reserved for this game. You're rewarded for patience but that can make levelling operators take days or even weeks as opposed to hours. Something that will no doubt become more frustrating as I progress toward the endgame content.

I'm already planning my weekend around making my production facilities more efficient and scaling toward producing goods to help me craft top spec gear and materials, so I think it's fair to say this game has its hooks deep in me. I am encouraged that I've not spent a penny on it yet though and have had no popups or FOMO mechanics present themselves thus far!

Currently playing through the original Starcraft. 4:3 aspect ratio and everything. I had a lot of hang ups about the game when I was younger, but I'm really enjoying it now.

Went through Galaxy 2 and DK Tropical Freeze in January.
Galaxy 2 > Galaxy 1. Easily.
Tropical Freeze is awesome, love how difficult it gets and the creativity in some of the levels as you progress. Aiming for 100%, so still need to sweep up some KONG letters and puzzle pieces in the later worlds.

Currently playing through MGS2 on Steam for the first time as part of the collection. Not much to say ~5 hours in. I like how much more in-depth it is than the OG, and you have quite a few more tools at your disposal. Story has been A+ so far. The visual fidelity over the original is a big win. Great art style and creative vision on display here.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance is taking up most of my time though. Story is really starting to get interesting and the battles are getting longer and tougher. Annoyingly, I have played Awakening and the GBA one almost all the way to the end but never finished either. I'm hoping to change that this time. Not great at SRPGs, too many tools and systems for me to keep on top of, but I'm managing so far with this one.

Beat the game. I googled cheap tactics against Dracula to beat it quicker.

Hard to pinpoint why this game didn't stick with me exactly. Combat is fun and a little different, with a mechanic of mashing X and Y in the right rhythm for very fast attacks. That felt good. It's silky smooth and good looking. But it's a 6th portable Castlevania in the span of 7 years. Another crap story to go through, more of level grinding and managing confusing inventory. There is a very dull hub world with side quests that require rare drops to complete. These can take an eternity to obtain. I think there was little passion behind this game so they never made another one.

Playing Neon Inferno again after the Score Attack update. They did a great job adding a scoring system which makes you approach the game differently.

This is one of the best modern 2D action games IMO. All killer, no filler, no metroidvania or tacked on roguelite bullshit. Just a decently challenging run and gun with clever mechanics and killer presentation.

Don’t know why it’s not getting more attention. They should’ve sucked some journo girldick.

I did a few skirmishes in WarGame: Red Dragon yesterday.... I know I have a problem. But its just such a satisfying RTS experience. Its almost like chess. You can play it again and again and again. Changing tactics ever so slightly.

All this game needs is a dozen maps that actually use the Naval units and I would probably be set for life.

I ended up capping the game to 59 fps. It removed not all the stutter but a TON of it.

I randomly stuck Mario XCOM2 back into my Switch last night, and the next thing I knew I was hooked to it until the battery died. I bought all the DLC a long time back, but I think I had just sorta burnt myself out on the game in general at that point.

But coming back to it now, I remembered why I was so hooked to it back then. I'm doing the Rayman DLC first.
